London, January '24. The Minister for Education (Mr. Birrell) is to succeed Mr. Bryce as Chief Secretary for Ireland, and Mr. Reginald McKenna is to become President of the Board of Education.

Mr. McKenna, having accepted a seat in the Cabinet, will seek reelection. Mr. Birrell is to remain in the Cabinet.

The, new President of the Board of Education is 43 years of age. Ho has previously not been a Minister, but lie is at present Financial Secretary to the Treasury and a Liberal Whip. He has represented North Monmouth since 1895.
