SCARCITY OF LABOUR.

Kawhia, Monday. At a Council meeting to-day a report was submitted relative to the scarcity of labour in the district. It showed that three <0:1tr»cts could not be let for this reason, and that day labourers cannot be got at 8s per day, despite the fact that living is cheap. A sum of £12,000 ih to be expended oil road works shortly, if the labour question can be solved.
