I am informed by the lion, secretaries of the Manchester Cnity Oddfellow.-,' Premier Picnic, which takes place at Motutapu on Saturday, February 16, that, entries are coming in freely for the various adult sports events. Last year the entries constituted a record, and there is every reason to believe thai this year's programme will prove equally a- attractive. An abridged programme appears in our advertising columns to-day. Some of the handsome prizes to be allotted are 011 view in Queen-street.

Nominations for the second annual athletic and cycling sports meeting under the auspices of the Greymouth Hibernian Society the three miles, viz.. 22m. 28 2-5.-., is a New held oil March 15.

At the Wellington championship meeting on .January 1 IT. K. Kerr put up two great performances in the walks. He is credited v.iih doing 6111. 265. for the mile, thus equalling (J. K. Lanier's world'.- record, and beating F. 11. Creamer's Australasian record by I 2-ss, The statement that his time for the three miles, viz., 22m. 38 2-ss. is a New Zealand record is incorrect, as the record is aim. 375., held by I). I have never seen Kerr at work, and cannot offer any opinion its to his style, and I have- not, yet heard who were the walking judges and timekeepers at. tin: Wellington meeting. However, if everything is 111 order, Kerr bin broken the Australasian mile record. The times all through the meeting appear to be very fast for a provincial gathering. Henderson's 10 15.-. for the lOOvds and '25 2-ss. for the 220vds. Fisher's 52 2-5.-. for the 440 yds and Bradbury's 2m. 5 3 5-. for tin-half-mile are performances well up lo New Zealand championship .standard.-. Such a team a..- this, with the addition of Kerr and Hubbard, goes to strengthen my previous opinion that Wellington will be extremely hard to beat, this season for the. championship shield.--Canterbury Times.
