Madame Casier, who left for Sydney on a holiday trip last evening, was, prior to her departure, the recipient of several presents. The Bishop, clergy, and choir of St. Patrick's Cathedral, with which she has been connected for 11 years, presented her with a pretty brooch and wristlet, and a bandsome gold watch, suitably inscribed. The presentation was made by the Rev. Father Holbrook in St. Patrick's Presbytery, in the. presence' of a large gathering. He expressed the hope that Madame Casier's health would soon be restored, so as to enable her to again take her place in the choir of St, Patrick's. , As the Hawea was entering Tory Channel on Sunday afternoon last, on the way down the West Coast, a red chequer homing pigeon alighted on the forward deck, where it made itself juite at home, and after being fed it was caught by one of the sailors and placed in a cage. On one of it 6 legs was an indiarubber band with a tag attached : " No. E. 507,' from which it was gathered that the bird formed one of a number sent by a flying club at Nelson, Wellington, or perhaps Wanganui.
