OBITUARY.
[by telegraph.— association.] Wellington, 'Wednesday.' Another of the early residents of Wellington passed away last night in the person of Mr. Northend Gooder, who had attained the age of 72 years. Mr. Gooder, who was a native of Yorkshire, arrived in Wellington in the' ship Arab, as long ago as 1841, and has lived here ever since. Artisans connected with the shipbuilding industry of Auckland will regret to learn of the death, yesterday morning of Mr. Thomas' Short, at h:s residence, Nixonstreet, Arebhill. The deceased, who served his apprenticeship to shipbuilding at this port, about the time of the g; eat maritime strike left with his wife and family for Rarotonga, where he resided up to the beginning of this year, when through failing health, he decided to comb ..up to Auckland for medical advice. Dr. Inglis, who has ; been . attending him, gave very little hope of his recovery, as his complaint was Incurable.
