GREAT COAL COMBINE.
THIRTY AUSTRALIAN MINES INVOLVED. SHIPPING COMPANIES INTERESTED. By Telegraph.—Press Association.— (Received October 10, 1.12 a.m.) Sydney, October 9.As the result of protracted negotiations, the owners of 31 out of a total of 32 of the collieries in the Newcastle district have come • to an arrangement for the regulating ot the price of coal and the output ol the mines, ■■•.. and for securing uniformity in;administration. Wallsend is the only pit not included' - in the arrangement. It is understood the scheme also embraces an agreement by ; which the whole of the coal from the mines ; : \ interested will be shipped by the following four shipping companies: Howard Smith, and Co., Huddart, Parker, and Co., the Adelaide Steamship Company, and Mcllwraith, >\ McEacharn and Company. >. The quantity ' to be handled is about 4,000,000 tons. It is believed the arrangement comes into ' operation in January next, the date, fixed for the advance in the selling price, of coal to 10s. ■;,. ——— m -■
