"DOROTHY VERNON." , ■". Dorothy Vernon, of Haddon Hill," was repeated by. Miss Tittell Brune and Mr. J. C..Williamson's Dramatic Company at the" Opera House last evening, and drew a very large* audience. The piece, as upon the first night, was ' received with marked api proval by the audience. 1 The acting of .diss.Brune in the title role was again magnificent, and she was well supported by the other members of the company. There will be - a matinee of "Dorothy Vernon", this afternoon, commencing at two o'clock, the performance . being precisely as at, night.] children will be admitted;at half-price to all parts. The plans for to-night will -be , on view at Wildman and Arey's until one o'clock to-day, after which they will be at Carter's, opposite-the" Opera Hbuse. ' ';"; 3BENEFIT' ENTERTAINMENT -AT- • ' "_ - : ONEHUNGA. ■ ' ; . Last,night an entertainment was given in the Public Hall, .Onehunga, by the school children,, assisted- by some '-friends',..' for the : purpose of defraying the expenses of a pupil of the school, a cripple, who is being specially treated in a private hospital. There was a large , attendance, . and the splendid programme-presented was greatly appreciated by the audience. The first part was opened with a selection by the string quartette, Messrs. Grant, Tole, Kirk, and Johnson. Miss Moody's rendering of "Embarque Vous" was greatly applauded. This was followed by a humorous recital by Mr. McElwain, and Mr. J. i Hutton gave a Highland sword dance. The second part of the programme was the charming operetta, entitled "The Dolls' Wedding," by the school children. Twelve of the scholars Were dressed as wooden soldiers, and 12 as sailors. The performance showed careful training, and was warmly applauded. by the audience. During the performance .several I '..solos and a. number of choruses were given .by the children in a really creditable manner. * Miss French and' Miss v Mulkere acted" as accompanists. r .
