VOCAL AND INSTRUMENTAL CONTEST?

The Foresters' Hall, Newton, was crowded last evening, the occasion being the holding of vocal and instrumental contests in connectipn" with the Auckland' Band of Hope Union. .It was the second night of .the contesta, which extend tip to and including Friday next. • The evening's items proved most interesting and enjoyable. A special feature, of last night's programme were the choir contests, in which the following took part.:—Church: of Christ,, West-street (con-' ductor, Mr. Falkner); Grafton Road Methodist (cosduotdr. Mr. Gatlaud); Eden "Tefraco Primitive Methodist (conductor, Mr. F. J. Mollard}..... The awards for ail of last night's contests will bo made to-night.
