FATA ACCIDENT TO A MAORI.

[BY TELEGRAPH. — CORRESPONDENT.] Whanoarei, Monday. An inquest was held at the Maunu Maori settlement on Saturday afternoon, before Mr. J. M. Kil'.en, Coroner, to inquire into the cause of death of a Maori named Pukeroa.. The evidence went to show that deceased was engaged in bushfelling on a section at Maunu, leased by Mr. Stevens, of Maiungatapere. Having cue through a large tree Pukeroa, stood aside watching its descent, when a limb suddenly broke off, and falling from a height of 40ft struck him heavily. A doctor was sent for, and it was found that deceased was suffering from a severe scalp wound and injuries to his back. He died on Saturday morning. A verdict ■was returned of "Accidental death, due to injuries sustained." ,
