ONEHUNGA POLICE COURT.
At the Onehungn Police Court on Saturday (before Messrs. S. Bradley and J. Stoup J.P.'s), William Henry Worth, a bootmaker, was charged with unlawfully assaulting his wife, Caroline Worth, by striking her, and attempting to choke her. The complainant asked that accused be bound over to keep the peace. Mire stated that a separation had been agreed upon, and had been arranged by ,-i lawyer, but that on Friday evening her husband had made his way into the house, and had used insulting language to her. Some of the neighbours had.ejected the defendant, but later in the evening he had returned, and had caught hold of her, trying to choke her. Defendant pleaded guilty, and admitted seizing his wife by the shoulders, but 'stated it was an accident when she fell on the floor. The bench fined him £1, or in default seven days' imprisonment, and ordered him to find two sureties of £10 each to keep the peace for six months.
