A PEACEMAKER KILLED.
As the result of an unlucky blow received while trying to quell an altercation the other afternoon a bootmaker named Robfc. Coates died at the Sydney Hospital. ;
It appears that about half-past four Coatos, who was 46 years of age, and resided at 35, Young-street, Redfern," attempted to stop a fight between a mate of his, named George Boniface, and , another, man. In the confusion it is alleged ho was struck by Boniface's opponent and knocked down.' He fell heavily on his head, and was rendered unconscious, in which condition he was admitted to the Sydney Hospital, where he died a few minutes after being seen by the doctor. The man who is supposed to have struck the fatal blow is unknown, and although the police have been diligently searching for him no arrest was reported vhen the mail left.
