VOLUNTEERING NEWS.

TO-DAY'S GARRISON INSPECTION PARADE.

This afternoon, at the Domain Ground, Major-General Babington, Commandant of the New Zealand Forces, •■ will inspect the volunteer companies forming the' Auckland garrison. The volunteers will parade at the Domain in time to be ready for inspection at three p.m. sharp, and after being inspected in line the troops will-march past. The parade will be under the' command of Colonel R. H. Davies, C.8., officer commanding the Auckland , district, and the corps will include the Auckland Mounted Rifles, Seddon Horse, "A" Battery Artillery, Devonport Submarine Miners, No. * Engineers, the Nos. 1. 8, and 9 j Garrison Corps, the seven Infantry Battalion Corps, and. the Defence Cadet Battalion (four companies). In all upwards of 1000 volunteers and' cadets will parade,' and members failing to attend: the inspection will bo fined £1 each.

Captain Hughes, D.5.0., inspecting officer of cadets, who is at present in Auckland, inspected the Grammar School Cadets on Wednesday, the King's College and Eden Cadets on Thursday, and the St. John's College Cadets yesterday. Captain Hughes was well pleased with the musters and the appearance and drill of the lads in all instances. On Monday the inspecting officer leaves for Hamilton to inspect the cadet corps there.' - , ■ ' .
