DIRECT STEAMER PUT ON.

. London, July 20. The New York correspondent of the London Daily Telegraph says that owing to a desire to accommodate exporters the American-Australian line has : decided to despatch a steamer from New York in August direct to New Zealand;
This , decision is attributed to the influence of Sir Joseph Ward during his recent visit. ; '
The American and Australian line consists ;of a: combination of the * vessels of Bucknall Brothers, Federal S.N. Company, and Houkler Brothers, all of London. The line! already sends, suiting- vessels direct: to New Zealand,-and its steamers come to New Zealand via Australia, ".,,
