(Received July 19. 10.33 p.m.) New York, July 19. A report has just been received that the Guatemalan army has been defeated in two battles. The first took place at Plalamar. and the second at Metopan (the latter yesterday). The losses of the Guatemalans in the two battles are enormous. An armistice has been arranged, and has now begun. . Guatemala, July 18. Through on agreement to cease fighting pending peace negotiations had been come to the Guatemalans on Monday and Tuesday delivered attacks on the army of San Salvador, but on etch occasion were repulsed. The Guatemalan troops are accused of barbarous, acts in the recent operations.
