BOY SAILORS TESTED.
COLLISION IN THE DOWNS. OBEY ORDERS WITH PERFECT DISCIPLINE. Br Telegraph.— Association.— (Received June 1. 9.54 p.m.) Loxdox, June 1. The ship Port Jackson, with 100 of the training-ship Warspite's boys aboard, collided in the Downs yesterday with the German steamer Weyroos. The Port Jackson had her starboard bow badly damaged, and was towed to Dover. Xo sooner had the collision taken place than the bugle was sounded for the boys to fall in, and they did so in perfect order. They were then ordered to put onlifebelts, and they did so and again reformed on deck within three minutes. Their discipline throughout was absolutely perfect. The Warsprite belongs to the Marine Society for the equipment, maintenance, and instruction of poor boys of good character for the royal navy and the merchant service. The Earl of Romney is president of the society. The Port Jackson is a vessel of 2132 tons tegistei. She had been , laid up in London for some time pa.st, when she was chartered by the British Admiralty, and lilted out as an auxiliary training ship for service in drilling the boys for the navy in their duties.
