THE GREY LYNN POLL.
■ ■'- -..- ... . r -. ...... . The Borough of Grey Lynn is taking the first official step" in the Greater Auckland movement now in progress, by putting to the popular vote a definite and formal question. This question will be answered on Wednesday next ; we confidently anticipate, that it will be answered in the affirmative. Grey Lynn is an integral part of the metropolis of Auckland, so actually a part that very few but those who reside in the borough know where Auckland ends and Grey Lynn begins- It is as connected with the city as is Ponsonby. much more connected than is Grafton in the lack of a Cemetery Bridge. Its residents cannot- be distinguished in any way from the residents of the rest of the metropolis, either industrially or commercially. Its interests are altogether identical with those of the adjacent districts. While Grey Lynn is thus situated, it is fortunately possessed of prominent local men who recognise the desirability of amalgamation with the city, and have thrown themselves heartily into the task of making the case clear to their fellow citizens. They have a convincing case, for not only is Grey Lynn only divided from Auckland by a political barrier, but it is to its great financial gain to remove that political barrier. Having in view the advantage of amalgamation, and the eildrgy with which the propaganda has been carried on* .the outcome of the poll can hardly be other than an affirmation of the recommendation of the Borough Council, and we hope that oil Wednesday night the advocates of Greater Auckland, within all its future boundaries, will be able to congratulate the people of Grey Lynn upon a wise and patriotic decision. ! ! / ;
