Reuter's correspondent at Shanghai reports that tho Anglo-Tibetan agreement has been signed by the Chinese Government. Britain and Tibet have agreed to recognise the protectorate of China over Tibet, and Britain undertakes not to interfere in the country's internal affairs unless other nations interfere. China has agreed to open some of the Tibetan markets to the trade of India, to construct telegraphs, and to give Great Britain preference in railway concessions. The sum to be paid as indemnity : for the British expedition to Lhassa , has been fixed at 2,400,000 taels . (£330,000). The treaty with Tibet was signed at/ Lhassa in September, 1904. Tibet agreed , to establish markets at Gvangtso and • Gartok, in addition to Yatung, for British ' trade, and to pay an indemnity of £500,000, ! in 75 yearly instalments, Britain to occupy > Clnimbi Valley until the money was paid.
