CANTERBURY JOCKEY CLUB'S SUMMER MEETING. FIRST DAY. [BY TELEGRAPH,— ASSOCIATION.] CKftiaTCHTTKCH, Thursday. The weather was dull to-day for the opening of the Canterbury Jockey" Club's Summer Meeting, and the course, as the result of yesterday's heavy ram, was on the soft side. The attendance was small and speculation limited, the Investments reaching £4584. The results arc as follows ;— TRIAL STAKES of 50sovs. One mile. 49 —Mr. C. De S. Czarevna was badly left, while Merrymaker and Good Sight were the quickest away. Rounding the top turn the order was Merrymaker, Good Sight, Adrift. Hemlock, and Euclid. Entering the straight Hemlock drew alongside of Merrymaker, and Euclid put in a strong claim.
