On behalf of the Whangarei fruitgrowers' Messrs W. A. Bain and J. McKi ft waited upon the local stationmaster to-day, with the object of ascertaining whether it is not possible to make arrangements by which fruit could be taken by train to the "Railway Wharf on mornings when the Ngapuhi runs an early trip. The Northern Company's time-table states that in such cases cargo will be received on " the previous day," but the stationmaster pointed out that a goods train runs *to the Railway Wharf on the morning of the steamer's departure, and there is nothing to prevent growers bringing their cases to Whangarei station up till aquarter past seven a.m., and having them conveyed to the Ngapuhi by such train.
