MOTOR POWER BOAT RACE.
Thb race for motor power boats of the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron, postponed from January 20, took place in the harbour last evening, under the most favourable conditions, as regards the weather. There was very little wind and sea. The entries and handicaps were: Union, scratch; Matareka, 25m. 155.; Blue Bell, 44m. 15s. The course was from off the end of Queen-street Wharf, round the Pile Beacon, off Chelsea, round Calliope Dock buoy, round the squadron mark off Bastion, finishing off the end of Queen-street Wjharf. Messrs. P. H. Cole and H. Wright were the officials, and sent Blue Bell 'away at sh. 3m., Matareka at sh. 26m. 155., and Union at sh. 47m. 15s. All three boats got away promptly on time. When Union started, Blue Bell was just crossing Shoal Bay. Union passed Matareka, off Judge's Bay. Blue Bell kept her lead, and finished at 1 6h. 40m. ; Union at 6h. 41m, 6s. ; and Matareka at 6h. 44m.
