CHARGE OF INFANTICIDE.
A DISTRESSING CASE.

Timaru,. Wednesday. At the Supreme Court to-day the last case on the calendar, a charge of infanticide, resulted in acquittal, on the ground of temporary insanity. The circumstances were of a distressing nature. The young woman threw the body of the infant into a cesspit, and some days afterwards removed it. She carried it some miles by train, and then threw it into a well. She was ordered to be kept in custody pending the pleasure of the Colonial Secretary.
