NEW ZEALANDER WINS A GOLD MEDAL. [BY TELEGRAPH.OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Wellington, Wednesday. The Education Department lias been informed that Agnes E. O'Sullivan, of the Marlborough High School, won the gold medal, offered by, the Imperial Order of Daughters of the Empire, and the Children of the Empire (junior branch), which has its headquarters at Toronto, Canada, for the best essay 011 "Canada." The second prize was won by a competitor from Bermuda. In conveying this information to the Department the secretary of the Educational Committee of the League expressed the hope that a greater number of essays will be sent in for tho next competition.
