HIDES AND SHEEPSKINS.
KEEN DEMAND AND HIGH PRICES.
[BY TELEGRAPH,— r-RESS ASSOCIATION.] Gisborne, Tuesday. TH£ principal feature of the sale to-day was the increase in the demand and the high price realised for good sheepskins, for which the record price of 9d was obtained for some nice pelted, well-woolled skins, well saved. Station skins fetched an average of B{d. Poorly saved pelts brought from to 7£d. Shearing pelts were keenly sought after, and brought from Is 3d to 2s. Hides caused much competition, and brought from 3id for rough station hides to 5d for well-saved station hides. A good line of ox freezers, averaging 581b, brought, 24s each. Another line of cows' made 28s 9d.
The offering of tallow was short, and the demand strong. Clean oddments made up to 19s.
