The opposing teams being Atchison's and Burgoyne's* At the outset of the game Mr. Burgoyne's team w-ere more than holding their own, hut it was not long before the Atchison brothers were in strong evidence, and Mr. C. Atchison notched first goal for his side. On resuming piny in the second spoil Mr. Robert Atchison followed with another, and Mr. Burgoyne's team were kept very busy defending.. " A little later Mr. Hawthorn got away, and transferred the ball to the other end" when, after some rather mixed-up play, he sent it between the goal posts, securing the only try for his side. After this Mr. Burgoyne's team seemed to fall to pieces, another goal being scored to Mr. Atchison's side. At the beginning of the game Mr. Burgoyne had hard luck in not scoring. The position now is: Burgoyne's team one win against Mr. Bell's ,and one loss against Mr. Atchison. Next Saturday the final of the first round will be played, when Mr. Bell's team plays Mr. Atchison's. Miss Orum kindly provided afternoon tea and cake for players and visitors.
