AUCKLAND MILITARY TOURNA MENT.

The military tournament, to take place Hi the Ellerslie racecourse to-day, promises to be the most successful event of the kind ever held in Auckland. Those who are fond of witnessing exciting competitions, in whioh a combination of hardihood ar.d skill is requisite to success, will find that they have been well catered for, while those to whom display most strongly appeals will derive full satisfaction from the spectacular events, which are liberally provided in a large and diversified programme. Lovers of good music will also find that this very necessary adjunct to successful entertainment has not been neglected, and will find the intervals between events filled in with the strains of three military bands, each of which will execute a programme of musical gems. Every arrangement has been made for the travelling public, and also for their comfort and enjoyment on the ground, and, given fine weather, a very large attendance is anticipated, especially as the proceeds are to be devoted to the Veterans' Home, and the provision of a gymnasium and clulrroom for the rank and file of the Auckland Garrison Volunteers, both objects well worthy of support. The veterans from the Veterans' Home' will form a guard of honour for His Excellency the Governor at the tournament.
