SERIOUS CHARGE.
A sitting of the Onehunga Police Court was held at the Courthouse yesterday when a, man mine J James VYsey wai charged with having, on January 11, indecently assaulted a little child at Ocehtroga. Messrs. E. G. Allsworth ruid G. J. Browne. J.'s P.. presided, and Sergeant J. Iwoinev represented the police. Accused, who pleaded nut guilty, is a run <l about 30 He was undefended. '!'!.<• evidence was to the effect that the child, with her brother and cousin, was picking oysters on the Onehungit bench on the day in question Accused called her over to a scow, enticing her with promises of fruit. H* then lifted the child into the scow, and attempted a, serious offence. Her cries! forced him to In her go, and she ran home crying to her mother. The matter was reported to th» police, and Vesey was arrested last Saturday. Accused reserved his defence, and was commuted for trial.
