Saturday evening. TilE sharernarket was fairly active to-tlay. In standard stocks Bank of New Zealand* sold at £7 10s, and more were asked for at £7 13s 6d, no declared sellers. In mining companies Waihis had sales at £6 19s and £6 19s 6d, closing with sellers at £7 and buyers at £6 ISs 6d. Waiotahis were done at £6 2s, the market closing with sellers at £6 3s, and buyers offering £6 Is. Talismans were dealt in at 29s 9d, and 29s 6d; late sellers 29s lOd, buyers 29s 2d. KuranuiCaledonians sold at 2s 6d; late sellers 2s 7d, buyers 2s 6d. New May Queens sold at 5s 3d, and late sellers wanted 5s 9d, buyers offering 5s 7d. New Moanataiaris sold at 2„ 6d: late sellers 2s 7d, buyers 2* sd. New Sylvias were firmer, selling at 7Jd, and closing with demand at 7d. late sellers Bid. Light shipments. Bad weather in the Argentine and si drought in India have caused general activity in the wheat market, but the American market is shghtlv easier owing to liberal receipts. Cargoes of Victorian January shipment, 32«; Australian, spot, small supply, 355; New Zealand, scarce, unchanged. FLOUR. Mndift dull, owing to large American supplies. Australian patents offering in London at Zit 3d s.i.f. BUTTER. Trie mild weather, the elections, and high prices 'lave cheeked inquiry for butter, and there is a slow trade. New Zealand, 112s to 114s; Australian, 110s to 112*; Danish, 117s to 120s. The relapse is not regarded as serious, and an early improvement in the demand is expected.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company have received the following cable from their London house :--" We quote present spot values tor the following descriptions of tallo-v :— Fine mutton, 30s; good heel, 27s 6d ; mixed, 26s Per cv.t."
