[BY TELEGRAPH.TRESS ASSOCIATION.] Christchuech, Thursday. ; At a largely-attended public meeting to-day, called to consider the future of Canterbury Hall, the following motion was. carried unanimously, "That this meeting is of. opinion that the citizens would view with considerable regret the prospective loss of Canterbury Hall as a public hall, and supports the suggestion that the. property should ;be secured by the city; that the Mayor be urged to convene a, special meeting of the Council and obtain the opinion of the ratepayers at the earliest possible date." Bishop Julius, Bishop Grimes, and five others, were appointed as a deputation to wait on the Mayot in regard to the matter, and subsequently to wait on the. Council. -;. .-.. 'O'. * .-.":,.
