[FROM OCR OWN CORRESPONDENTS.] HAMILTON. This fortieth anniversary of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church celebrated on Tuesday night by a public meeting. A short history of the church was given, which carried the meeting back to times when the services were held .'«« the redoubt by the Rev. Dr. Bruce and '.ho Rev. T. Nor'rie. The first minister in oliarge of the Hamilton church was the Rev. J. W. Taylor, during whose ministry, in the year 1863, the i present church was erected. The Rev. James i'aterson gave some interesting anecdotes of the I clergy who had charge of the church in the early ! days. .'■■''. A committee meeting of the* Hamilton Rowing Club was held on Tuesday evening. Before pro- ! ceeding with t.hp usual business, Mr. N. C." '■ Ma'.hew presented Mr. J. McKee with a nicelyframed enlarged photograph of the committee, of which , the '"recipient is one. The gift was in recognition of his recent marriage. Several new members were elected. It .was decided to hold races on Saturday, January 13. Mr. ,N. C. Mathew' and Mr. C. H. Holloway (vice-captain) were appointed to oelect crews. "1 The annual meeting of the Hamilton Polo Club was held on Tuesday. The balwiue-uheet showed a small credit balance after a very heavy expenditure for the year. Although little interest is being shown in polo this year, the members I present were reluctant to allow the club to di«', : and it was decided to keep it in existence by contributing to the association in the hope that ! at some future'date interest would revive. '■- \ : COROMANDEL. ''"' Tub Coromandel Rifle Volunteers (in camp)'held • their annual sports this (Thursday) afternoon. The different events were well contested, the Maori members of the corps doing remarkably well in "11 the military events. Afternoon tea l was provided. -.' V j. .-. CAMBRIDGE. OS :; Wednesday afternoon the gardens at the ■ Cambridge Public School, which are in charge of the school children, were judged by Messrs. I M. MuDermott and T. Hartly, and the following prizes wen awarded:—Boys: R. Sharkey and G. ; Krogman -1, B. Lockley and K. Mulling 2, A. j W'.lia and C. Ferguson 3. and F Willis highly commended. Girls: . Katie Swayne 1, Gwendoline Roberts 2; Ethel Carr, Lily Bell. Vera Western, and; Muriel Onyons . were awarded .; third prize (equal). ; The gardens reflect great credit.upon ' the pupils.: ■".
