Highway Districts- , ',;., "VTIOTIOB IS HEREBY GIVEN" that at a- ■*-~' Special Meeting of the Epsom Road Board, held on the 12tl) day of December. 1906, a, resolution was passed: — That in pursuance of the powers vested in it by " The Road Boards Act, 1382," and. its amendments, "The Public Works Act, 1905," and its amendments, " The Dog Registration Act. 1800." and ■: its amendments, and " The Public Health Act, 1900." and its amendments, and by all or any other statutes it , hereunto enabling the Road Board of tbe Epsom Road District doth hereby make and enact the following By-laws (to come into operation on the gazetting thereof), viz. The object or purport of the said By-laws am:-— "■''>'.'- - : " "■ PART I.: Contains the general interpretation clause, defines offence, and provides a penalty not exceeding £5 for each offence and £5 per day for any continuing offence. PART 11. In respect of the Care and Management of Roads, regulates the protection of footpaths and roads from damage, deals with the obstruction of roads by vehicles and materials, the wandering of cattle, the deposit of rubbish or spilling of nightsoi! or offensive matter in or near roads, the draining: of offensive matter or dripping of roof discharges on to roads, the burning of • litter on roads or vacant allotments, damage by dogs on roads, the use and regulation of bicycle, motor-car, vehicular, and horse traffic, the construction of crossings and drains in footpaths, and other similar matters, and provides sundry payments or charges in respect of such matters. " ! PART III.: In respect of Dwelling Sites,l provides for. every site for a new- house being at least a quarter-acre in .area, with one chain frontage to a road, with exceptions in case of land shown on public or deposited plans prior to. the 12th December, 1905, or land the sole property of a person, or shops with dwelling rooms attached in a special area mentioned, along the main road frontage (subject in such case to certain drainage.* requirements), also renders necessary specified air spaces and provides against their diminution, and regulates formation of ground underneath house. PART IV.: In respect of sanitary matters, permits in certain circumstances and regulates the burial and cartage of nightfloil and offensive matter, regulates the construction, position, requirements, and supervision, of sewage tanks, water closets, pan privies,, sufficient privies, drainage pits, ashpits, stables, pigsties, and fow[yards, regulates the keeping of pigs and fowls,. deals with the requirements of house and other drainage,' the prevention of nuisances, and gives full sanitary control to the Board. The said resolution will be submitted to the ordinary meeting of the said Epsom Road Board, to be held at the. Board'* Office, Manukau Road.
