SIR ANTHONY McDONNELL.
UNDERGOES , AN OPERATION. By Telegraph.—Press Association—Copyright. London, July 27. Sir Anthony McDonnell (Secretary to the Viceroy of Ireland) has undergone a serious operation. His resignation is generally expected.
The name of Sir Anthony McDonnell was very prominent some time ago on account of his connection with Lord Dunraven's Devolution scheme of reform for Ireland. His resignation was expected then, but' instead that of the Secretary for Ireland (Mr. Wyndham) took place. He had bad a distinguished career in India, and ."lent"' the Irish Department.
