The half-yearly meeting of the Auckland Gas Company "was held'at 'the, offices of the company yesterday;, i Professor F. :D. Brown presided. The ;'abstract, of the statement of receipts and expenditure for , the half year ending -Tune 30, 1905, as read .by. the secretary (Mr. K. B. Parsons), \ was as follows:— Receipts: Gas, residual products and sundries, £50,589 17s M, Expenditure: Manufacture of gas, £23,198 ' 9s. sd; distribution of gas, £4018 Is 7d; cost of material for'repairs and labour on public'lamps,, £1199 10s Id; rents payable, rates and taxes, £1867 17s; management, law ./charges and bad debts, £3097 18s 8d; interest, £465 17s 10d: total, £33,847 Ms 7d: leaving a balance, of £16,742 2s lid, :less dividend;- of -7s bd per share on 34,807 shares. £13,052 12s 6d; living a balance of £3689 lis sd.to carry forward to the. current half year. . lhe chairman, having .explained the .object of the meeting, said, the balance .of £3689 left after the payment of the dividend was rather more than was the case last year,' and naturally became larger as the business of the company increased. -The shaieholders would realise then, that there was plenty of money out of which _• to. pay a, dividend.
