GRAFTON ROAD METHODIST V CHURCH. • .

■ The annual tea and public meetings in connection with the Grafton Road Methodist, Church anniversary took "place in/the church last night. ' There was a good attendance at each: gathering. The public meet-' ing was presided over by Mr. R. Hobbs. The annual report stated.that the past year had been to the members.of the congregation' an anxious one, owing to the fact that the lease of the ground had expired in June last. The high rental which the Educational Trust demanded, threatened the' renewing of the lease. The* committee had looked for a freehold site,/but had not been successful ill' obtaining one, as the i prices were too high, and the removal expenses would be very heavy.. An exchange of site had been mentioned, but,/up/, to the. present-time, the committee had not been'able to report upon the matter.. The junior and senior Endeavour Societies had been amongst the most helpful and interesting meetings held. The 'Mutual Improvement Society had .been -doing good' .work,.- and had a membership,.of over ; 80.- Regular meetings ■,were' held eachweek and were well attended; The balancesheet'' showed .that the elmroh debt stood at £199 Is.
