TRAMWAY MATTERS.

[BY TELEGRAM. —SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT. J WELLINGTON Tuesday. Mr. A- S. Biss, a member of the Wellington City Council, has just returned from a visit to Auckland, during which lie made some inquiries concerning tramway matters. He made particular inquiry in Auckland ' regarding the company's system of dealing with overlapping sections, but he found that the onlj place at which overlapping took place was on the Parnell section, and that was arranged at the special instance of the Parnell Borough Council. Mr. Biss is of opinion that the overlapping system, which means that a person can travel from the half of one section, say, to the half of the next section for one fare, is not businesslike, workable, or worth the trouble involved. He found: that the Auckland Tramways Company had just adopted the Sydney system of tickets, and lie will advocate its adoption in Wellington.
