At the tennis tournament at Wimbledon the following are results-: —Gore beat ; Wilding and Brookes beat Eisely, and are now in the semifinals of the singles. Brookes and Dunlop have not yet been beaten; in the doubles. • N. E. Brookes is the present champion of Victoria, and by many competent critics is regarded as the leading Australian exponent of the game. Prior to the departure of the team for England, it was stated that in the absence of Sharp, of New South Wales, who unfortunately was not available, Brookes and Limlop would be the best pair that could be chosen to represent the Commonwealth in singles and doubles events in the Old Country. That this was so is borne out by the news contained in the cable message. Both are Victorians. Gore and Wilding a.re New Zealand members of the Australasian team, and it is rather unfortunate that the draw , should have brought them together in the singles match'. ,
