At the Newmarket meeting yesterday the following was the result of the race for THE ONE THOUSAND GUINEAS of lOOsovs each. She made, her debut, at Liverpool in the Great Lancashire. Breeders' Produce Stakes, for which she was well fancied, but she failed to gam a. situation; but in the Mersey Stakes, run at tin- same meeting, she won easily, beating a field of nine. Journeying to Ireland she. acted as runner-up t<" St. Brendan in the Leopardstown Grand Prize, but in the Anglesey Stakes, run at the Curragh, she lauded the odds laid on her. On being brought back to England she was beaten out of a place in the Koinpton Park Nursery Handicap, but at Newmarket !it the. following month she won a Free Handicap under 7sl 31b. At the South Australian Jockey Club's meeting to-day there was a pronounced surprise in the running of the principal event, the Goodwood Handicap of 400sovs, six furlongs. First Fleece, the winner, was out* of the greatest outsiders, and a dividend of £83 lis was returned. Seventeen horses started. footmark was second and Conclusion third. The race was run in lm. 16-. AUCKLAND TROTTING CLUB'S AUTUMN' MEETING. THIRD DAY. The Auckland Trotting Club concluded its autumn meeting' on the Takapuna racecourse on Saturday. The attendance was bettor than on the two previous days of the meeting, and the weather delightfully tine. A feature of the day was the downfall of the favourites, outsiders in most instances winning easily. In the first race, the Trial Trot, Handicap, which was won by Specialite, a protest was lodged by the owner of the second horse, -Miss Victor 11., on the ground of inconsistent performances. On the two previous days Specialite had been unsighted, while on Saturday In* trotted kindly and won by 20 lengths. After hearing evidence the stewards dismissed tho protest, and Speeialite paid a dividend of £4- 14s for a 10s ticket. On Saturday £2021 was. put through the totalisator on Hie seven races, making a total for the meeting of £5397, which is £191 10s less than last year, dividends being payable on 10s tickets.
