PATENT MEDICINES.
NEW ZEALAND REGULATIONS. MANUFACTURERS' CEASE SUPPLIES. Hi? Telegraph Press Association —Copyright. London, May 5. The patent medicine proprietors of England have met and decided to refuse to deposit copies of their formula; with the officials at Wellington, as required by the new regulations of New Zealand. They arc ceasing to forward their medicines to New Zealand, and have ordered the stopping of all their advertisements. STATEMENT BY Sill JOSEPH WARD. [BY TELEGRAM-.— ASSOCIATION.] Wkixtnoton", Saturday. .Sir Joseph "Ward, Minister for Public Health, upon being interviewed respecting the cablegram regarding the patent medicines regulation, stated that he had received no intimation on the subject. He had understood that, generally .speaking', the present arrangement was satisfactory to the* great bulk of patent medicine proprietors. The only question was the best way to protect the public from deleterious medicines. He could not see that proprietors of patent medicines had anything to fear under the regulations. He simply lodged his formula confidentially with the Minister for Public Health, but it did not go on record in the Department in any way. There must be misconception, on the part of the proprietors who were agitating in the matter. However, he would look at the matter again.
