DENIAL BY MR. BRODRICK.

By Telegraph.— Press Association Copyright.

(Received May 7, 1.51 p.m.)

London, May 6. Tun Secretary for .India (Mr. rodrick), replying to a correspondent, says that the recently-published statements that Lord Kitchener had threatened to resign the command of the army in India unless given a free hand in reorganising the army and unless allowed to report to the Viceroy direct, were inaccurate and misleading. Fie also denies that Lord Kitchener is at variance with himself regarding the amount that Great Britain should contribute towards the cost of the army reforms in India.
