SUDDENLY POSTPONED.
DECISION FOLLOWS RETURN
OF THE KING.

London, May G. The Admiralty has announced the postponement of the annual naval manoeuvres arranged to take place next month.
In making (he announcement, the Admiralty explains that the manoeuvres might cause inconvenience if held in June as planned. If the scheme were only partially carried out, the lessons it was desired that the manoeuvres should inculcate would be lost.
The postponing of the manoeuvres lias occasioned much comment in England, owing to the fact that the announcement followed a meeting between the King, on his arrival from France, and Mr. Balfour, and the Foreign Minister (Lord Lansdowne).

The German Navy League is utilising Admiral Penrose Fitzgerald's article in the Deutsche Revue on the attitude of Germany towards Britain as the basis for a further agitation for the increase of the fleet.
Admiral Fitzgerald said iv the article in effect that, if war between Germany and Britain had to come, the sooner tin* belter.
