SHOPS AND OFFICES ACT.

Wellington, Friday. At to-day's sitting of the Trades and Labour Conference, a committee recommended the following exemptions under the Shops and Offices Act: —Chemists (for the sale of medicines, etc.), fruiterers, confectioners, pastrycooks, and restaurants, employees' hours to be limited in all ca'ses to 52 per week. The report, with alteration of the hours to 48, was adopted.
