TRADES AND LABOUR CONFERENCE.
[IT TELEGRAPH. —PRESS % ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Thursday. The Trades and Labour Conference continued it* sittings to-day. It was resolved, ■'That the Government be urged to issue legal tender notes for the purpose of completing unfinished' Main Trunk and oth»r important railways lines and other works, with a view to providing a permanent currency as a medium of exchange for internal trade; that the Industrial Conciliation 'and Arbitration Act be amended tc provide for statutory preference to unionists; that the Act be also amended to enable stipendiary magistrates to adjudicate in cases of breaches 01 awards or industrial agreements, with power to appoint two experts, or, as an alternative, that an Arbitration Court be set up in each island; and tliat all Stat* employees be brought under th* provisions of the Act."
