MUTTON RAISED A PENNY.

At a. meeting of the executive of the Auckland Master Butchers' Association, held yesterday, it was decided to advance the price ot mutton and lamb by Id per lb from Monday next. "The price of beef, pork, and veal will remain unchanged. The rates at present and on May 1 are compared as follows:—begs. present price 5d per lb, price oh May 1, 6d per lb; hindquarters, sd, sjd; loins. sd, sid; forequarters, 3d, 3d; shoulders, 4d, 5d ; necks, 4d, sd; chops (all). 6d, 6d: shank end legs, 6d, 7d; chump end legs, sd, 6<l; neck and breast , 3d, 4d ; side. 4d, 5d ; ■ hindquarters lamb, 7d, 7d: forequarters lamb, 6d, 6d; legs lamb, 7d, 8d ; loins, 7d, 8d; lamb chops, Bd. The association exempts all hotels and restaurants from these prices, and boardinghouse-keepers. whose average weekly purchases amount to not less than 20s in value, may be allowed a special discount of five per cent, off the list prices. There is ii" " cutting."

Sheep sold at Renutera yards yesterday fetched: Best- wethers to 24s 6d. ewes to 235, lighter weights 16s to 20s. lambs 10s 6d, and 15s and 17s 3d for the best.

Lamb is fetching In the present state of the London market we cannot remuneratively ship beef and mutton.
