ORIENT COMPANY'S NEGOTIATIONS..

Sydney, March 17. Representatives of the Orient Steamship Company have had a friendly conversation with Mr. Reid, and it is believed that negotiations may be resumed lor the company to establish a. weekly service.

A deputation from the Employers' Federation waited upon the Postmaster-General iind the Prime Minister to-day respecting the mail service. The speakers urged that it would be nothing derogatory to the Post-master-General in bowing to the inevitable and making arrangements to stop the present almost intolerable stale of affairs.
Mr. Reid, in reply, said lie had invited offers from the whole world, and offers had been made which' the Government could nob accept. The door was still open to the Orient Company to submit soul's reasonable offer.
