Sttva, March 17.
The s.s. Hauroto, which has arrived from; Sydney, did not sight the steamer P3barra, ; which is now many days overdue at this port from Noumea. The Pilbarra, aftoi leaving Sydney for Noumea, lost a olade of her propeller, and it is feared that another similar accident has befallen her, and tidings of her whereabouts are anxiously looked for here.
A warship at Noumea has been instructed to assist in the search for the missing boat, while all the boats trading between hero and Sydney are keeping a sharp look-out for her, bub so far their efforts have been unsuccessful. To-day the Fiji Government's despatch steamer B.anadi was sent out from Suva to make a diligent search.
Seeing that the Pilbarra is now eight days overdue, fears are entertained for her safety.
Si-nxEY, March 17.
