A SAD FATALITY.
A MAN SUFFOCATED. [HI TELEGRAPH,—PRESS ASSOCIATION:. ] Oajiarg, Saturday. A fatal fire occurred at three this morning, when Geo. Leslie, a tobacconist, met his death. The outbreak occurred in Leslie's shop, and spread to the adjoining premises occupied by Mr. Fox (bootmaker), Miss Brown (art repository), and Miss Falconer (dressmaker). The upper portions of the simps were destroyed, and the stock damaged by lire and water. It is supposed that Leslie overturned r, candle and set lire to the bed clothe.--. He was found lying on the floor, and had evidently been suffocated in endeavouring to reach the door. The insurance on Leslie stock and furniture was "£250 in the New Zealand. There is believed to be an additional £100 in the Victoria. Fox's stock was insured for £600 in the South Britkh, Brown's stock for £360 in the National, and Falconer's plant and stock were uninsured. The buildings were owned by Mr. J- Hill, and insured in the Mow Zealand for £600.
