A' SERIOUS ACCIDENT.

max thrown- from a trap. A mi idle-aged man named Frank White met with a serious accident on the Great North Road, Kingsland, on Saturday afternoon, about half-past five. In company with his son. a lad about 10 years of age. White was driving along the road in a spring cart, the boy having the reins, while the father was sitting on a seat towards the bach of the cart. A icii caused White to lose his balance, and he fell cut on to the roadway, landing on his -v.hl. 'lbs hoy promptly pulled the cart, up, and went to the assistance of his father, who was found to be bleeding from the head, and unconscious. The injured man was taken to a house near by, and Dr. Harding Porter, who lives in the neighbourhood, was summoned. The doctor was quickly on the scene, and a medical examination disclosed the fact that White had sustained serious injuries to the base of his skull, and also to the spine., causing paralysis from the shoulder downwards. Dr. Porter, after temporary treatment, ordered White's removal to the hospital. He was in a very critical condition when inquiries were made at the hospital at an early hour this morning.
