BISHOPRIC OF SOUTHWELL

The Bishop of Burnley (Dr. Hobkyns) has been appointed Bishop of Southwell, in succession to Dr. Bidding, who has retired. Dr. Hoskyns was born in 1656, and educated at Jesus College, Cambridge. He was ordained in 1874, and after holding other important positions, was consecrated Bishop of Burnley in 1901.
