Dr. Bardsley was born at Keighley in 1835, and was educated at Burnley and Manchester grammar schools, and at Trinity College, Dublin, where he graduated B.A. in 1859, proceeding M.A. in 1865, and D.D. iii 1887. He was .Archdeacon of Liverpool from 1886 to 1887. He was consecrated Bishop of Sodor toad Man in York Minster in 1887, and held that See till 1891, when he was translated to the Sea of Carlisle. ~ He was the author of "Counsels to Candidates for Confirmation" and " The Origin of Man."
