t, FOOTBALL. IHE RUGBY DISTRICT BOUNDARIES. A special meeting of delegates to the Auckland Rugby Union was hold in the , rooms of the Amateur Sports Club last evening, Mr. A. E. Dsvore (president) in the chair. There was a good attendance of delegates. The meeting was convened at the request of tie Suburbs, Parnell, and Grafton District Clubs with the object of considering a notice of motion urging the rearrangement of the district boundaries with a view to bringing them in line with the new electoral district proposals to be fixed by a population basis. Mr. H. G. Clievis, for Parnell, moved, "That a rearrangement of the district boundaries is necessary, and thai the alteration bo made so as to make the districts the Mine as the now electoral districts, which will be based on population." Speaking in support, he pointed to the weakness for some seasons past of the Suburbs and Parnoll Districts Clubs under the existing scheme and contended that the population basis would put all districts on an equal footing. ' Mr. C. E. MacCormiek (secretary of the Auckland Rugby Union) agreed that something should be don© to strengthen the- two particular districts referred to by the previous speaker, but could not favour the electoral scheme for a population basis in view of the inadequate information at present available. Ho moved as an amendment, That this meeting recognises the necessity foi a rearrangement of the existing boundaries, and requests the Management Committee to consider tho question and report to a future meeting." t Several delegates expressed their views, and on a voteboing taken the amendment as adopted on the voices. At a meeting of the Management Committee of the Auckland Rugby Union last night it was decided to put on record an appreciation of the- services rendered to football by Mr. C. E. MacCormiek during his term of office and an expression of regret at , • the fact that ,ho found it necessary through pressure of private business to relinquish the office he had filled with such conspicuous ability and satisfaction to all concerned. WANGANUI DEFEATS SOUTHLAND. [BY TELEGRAPH.PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Intvercarghx, Wednesday. The Wanganui v. Southland football match was played in perfect weather on a dry ground to-day before 1500 spectators, and was won by the visitors by 8 points to nil. It was voted the poorest display in interprovineinl events smii hsre. The visiters averaged over a stone heavier than the local wen, and played accordingly, frustrating all attempts by Southland to make the -game open. No score was made in the first spell. In the second spell Takarangi, from a free kick, registered three points, and Mitchell scored a try, which Takarangi converted. No combined passing was seen, the visitors relying on the line-out and scrum. N.Z. CHAMPIONSHIP REGATTA. [l»r TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Cheistchurch, Wednesday. -The Canterbury Rowing Association tonight decided to recommend the New Zealand Association to communicate with the Australian associations to get them to Sjepd representative crews to meet at the NewZealand Championship Regatta. EDEN DISTRICT CRICKET CLUB. The second annual general meeting of the Eden District Cricket Club was held in the Victoria Hall, Eden Terrace, last evening. Mr. J. R. Walters presided over an attendance of upwards of 50 members. The annual report and balance-sheet, which were adopted, showed that the club had been successful in winning championships in three of the grade competitions, via., the first grade {bracketed with Parnell) and the third and fourth grades (with unbeaten records). The oiub had been represented in the interprovincial matches by Messrs. I. and W. Mills and H. B. Lusk. In championship fixtures the club had won 47 matches and lost 27. The club trophies were* won as follows:—Mr. John Bollard's (for highest individual score), by Mr.. Arthur Brown; Mr. Jacob Holt's /for be3t all-round man}, by Mr. W. Mills; Mr. J. Coles' (for fielding), by Mr. I. Mills; and Mr. T. Read's (for highest average), by Mr. W. L. Robinson. The balance-sheet showed a debit balanceon the- club account, but against this was a credit balance on the ground account, while assets showed a surplus over liabilities of £I*o. The report conclusively showed that the club's endeavours, to finally secure and improve the Kingslaud Cricket Ground were on the road to a successful termination, provided that the members assisted to the bast of their . ability. Between 20 and 30 new members were elected, and the following office-bearers appointed for the ensiling; season:— . Sir Au J. Cadman, M.L.C.; vice-patrons, Messrs. George Fowlds and John Bollard, M.H.R.'s; president, Mr. Murdoch i»*c- • Lean; vice-presidents, same as last year, with the addition of Drs. Grant and Harding Porter: lion, secretary, Mr. J. B. Kyd; hon. treasurer, Mr. E. C. Beale; assistant-trea-surer, Mr. R. W. Gary; Managing Committee, Messrs. R. A. Miles, H. J. Ryan, A. E. Clark, R, W. Cary, and D. Mclnness; -delegates to the Auckland Cricket Association, Messrs. R. A. Miles, E. U. Beale, J. B. Kyd; honorary auditors, Messrs. N. T. Williams and T. D. Ball. During the evening the chairman presented the secretary, on behalf of the playing members of the club, with a handsome pair of sleeve-links .as an appreciation of the work done by him during the past season. Mr. Kyd suitably responded.

PONSONBY DISTRICT CRICKET CLUB. The annual meeting of the Ponsonby District Cricket Club was held at All Saints' schoolroom last evening. There was a large attendance of members, Mr. T. T. Masefield presiding. The secretary (Mr. W. H. Horn-nig-way) road the annual report, which showed that the inauguration of the district scheme had been an unqualified success. It was satisfactory to record that two of the most earnest promoters of the district scheme were members of the Ponsonby Cricket Club , (Messrs. G. Wallace and 0. H. Plummer). Six teams were placed in the field at the beginning of the season. The senior team played 12 matches, of which they won six. Among the chief batting averages was that •of Woods, who made 25.6 for 16 innings. His aggregate was 405. Among the- bowlers, Whites record was 281 overs, 69 maidens, 560 runs, 63 wickets, average 8.8. __ The Ponsonby District Club easily won the Wednesday teams)' competition. The club secured a practice ground in 'Richmond Road from Messrs. Loyland, O'Brien and Co. at an annual rental of £7 10s for five years. The dub regretted very much the loss of Mr. 0. Wallace's services, for during the year he had saved the club a lot of money in keeping tho ground in good order. Through the good offices of Mr. Sturmfela a concert realised £5 17s in aid of the club's funds The best thanks of the club were due to dr. T. T. Masefield for his energetic action «ad interest in helping the club to obtain a Jfroiind, and also for his warm interest in *ho club's affairs. Thanks were tendered to Archdeacon Calder for the use of the room for meetings, and to the vice-presidents and others who donated funds to the club; also, to the ladies who helped in dispensing afternoon tea during the season. The Chairman thought the past season was a highly satis* factory one. The batting average we'« also very good. He regretted very much that the club had lost Mr. Wallace's services, for he had always done lis best to help the dub. It might help the- club if the members got up more concerts and similar undertakings in order that the club might be well supplied with funds. The report was adopted. The treasurer (Mr. G. H. Plummer) read a report, which showed that £32 lbs 9d had been received in subscriptions, £7. 6s 8d from the defunct Ponsonbv Cricket Club, £7 53 by donations, £5 17s by a concert, and £30 by loans from members. The total receipts from all sources was £86 4s Ba. The expenditure included £5 5s subscription to the A.C.A., pavilion £2 10s, cricket material £32 8s Bd, forming pitches £'<& 19s 6d, "tying water on ground £5 IBs 6d, cash in hand £3 17s 4d. Votes of thanks were accorded the hon. secretary (Mr. W. ti. Hemingway) and hon. treasurer (Mr. Plummer) Mi. T. T. Masefield was re-elected president with acclamation. Bishop Lsnihan and -Archdeacon Calder were elected natrons of the club. Messrs. R. Farrell, O. 3. Parr, J- Kirker, J. Hodson, and R. G. Collins were elected vice-presidents. Mr. W. H. Hemingway was re-elected secretary, and Mr. Braithwaite was elected assistant-secretary. Mr. G. H. Plummer was re-elected treasurer. and Mr. Langsford was re-elected auditor. Messrs. Gavin, Woods, arid Wallace wore elected a Selection Committee, and Messrs. c White, Whitolaw, Walker, and McMath were elected a General Committee. Messrs. Walker, Nolan, and Plummer were re-elected delegates of the club.
