In the New Four-in-Hand Gold Mining Company's mine 7ib of picked stone came to hand from the stope south of the ladderway when breaking down the lode last week. Colours of gold were also seen. From the stope at the south end of the block 61b of picked stone were secured, a little gold being left showing in the face. In the steles in the floor of the intermediate level gold has been frequently seen in the ore broken out, and about 10 tons of crushing dirt were obtained during the week. The reef in the stope north of the ladderway remains broken, and no gold has been seen in it. Colours of gold were seen in the rise between Nos. 2 and 3 levels, which is up to within 4ft of the level. Stoping is to be resumed here at once. About 46 tons of ore have been sent to the battery during the week, and there are on hand in the mine and passes another 15 tons. . The manager expects to have 80 tons on hand at the end of this week, and the battery is iv be started on Monday next. Stoping will be continued for a fortnight, after which operations will be resumed in the new low level. BUNKER'S HILL G.M. CO. In the Bunker's Hill Gold Mining Company's mine work m the wiaae has been suspended owing to the heavy inflow of water. In the meantime an underhand stope is in progress at No. 4 level, and here a pound of specimen stoae was secured oa Monday. The manager considers that operations here will also have to be stopped, oa account of the water. Consequently he purposes operating on the 4in leader above No. 3 level os the run of gold, and working upon a leader off the rise, where 31b ■ of specimen stone came to hand, when cuttiag through it,. He further recommeads fee stoping out ol the block between Nos. 2 and 1 levels to the Old Hanraki boundary, where he has reason to believe gold will be found. Another work the manager proposes is the development of the haagiagwafl section of the Tribute leader at No.. 2 level. Good gold was obtained here when previously worked.
